On July 28th (first of all, happy birthday to my sister, Emily!) we visited the Lincoln Park Zoo downtown. I was especially excited because ever since our zoo passes to the Brookfield Zoo expired, Josh has been begging me to take him to the zoo. Downtown, the zoo is free, but you usually have to pay to park.
Our day was terrific and it made me really appreciate our family time together.
The kids loved the underwater tank for the sea lion.
There is a fun little indoor playground at the zoo and last year when we went, Josh wasn't quite big enough to do it really well. This year, he did great! The funny part is that there was another little Joshua (probably less than 2 years old) that was stuck up in the play set and his parents kept trying to encourage him to come down. Our Josh got really confused as to why they would want him to come down!
My Steve is such a great daddy!
Although we had packed snacks, we forgot them in the car. So as any sane popcorn-loving parents would do, we bought a bucket and all of us enjoyed it!
We enjoyed the birds of prey. The one to the right of the sign really actually looked like he was "pray"ing.
Since the Lincoln Park Conservatory is pretty renowned and it sits directly next to the zoo, we dropped in to see how different it was from the Garfield Park Conservatory (which is just a few miles from our house). We loved it and loved that there were some fun decorating and landscaping differences. Both have koi and Kelsey (in her generalization phase) called all of them dogs.
I really liked these bamboo decorations.
These Frangipani flowers were just lovely.
As we walked out of the conservatory, we loved seeing our beautiful Chicago parks, and especially loved that this one was set up for a later wedding. Isn't Chicago great?
