Little Helper
Yesterday was a dreary and cold day. So Josh and I decided to make cookies. Let me tell you--if you ever even mention the word "cookies" to a 2-year-old, he will ceaselessly ask for them until it happens.
Josh was such a good helper. While I was getting new ingredients out, I let him use the fork to pound away at the butter and sugar and then he helped dump all of the right things in. It was so cute to have him help and he was really good at it!
After I let him try the dough, he kept trying to pick at the unfinished cookies. Good job kiddo!

The Season that has become Halloween
Halloween for us lasted about 3 weeks. On Oct 16, we were invited to Sean and Livia Nufer's house to have a little party. That meant we had our first chance to try out Josh's Mickey Mouse costume. When we first put it on him, he definitely protested, but we put him in front of a mirror and his eyes just lit up because he recognized who he was supposed to be. I was so proud!
The Friday before Halloween, our playgroup (thank you Lindsy!) was at the library for a Halloween story time and trick-or-treat. We walked there and arrived a little early, but we got to see almost everyone come in.

I was pleased to see the Leah dressed her daughter (Mckenna) up as Minnie Mouse
On Saturday (the 29th), we finally carved our pumpkin! It was hard to find a good day to do it because of piano lessons and with Steve getting up early to work on his MBA.
We were happy to see Joshua taking an active part in cleaning out the pumpkin. He kept going "Ew" and "Yuck!" with every handful.
We were going for a Mickey Mouse pumpkin, but when we showed this to Joshua and asked who it was he immediately responded "Toodles!!" (Those of you who have watched the show understand this, but on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Toodles is a little helper that looks just like this.)
Saturday night was the ward Halloween Party. We had told our friend Mandi that we would watch her kids that night while she worked and Nick was out of town. She arranged a ride for her kids to get to and from the party, and we dressed them up in their costumes while we were there. It was very hectic, but we had an enjoyable time. One of the brothers took some great pictures of everyone that was dressed up. Steve and I went as Tahitians, Kelsey is a pumpkin, and Josh was Mickey Mouse.
Finally! Halloween arrived! We were invited to Lindsay Moss' house with all of the other parents of toddlers to have "Soup and Bones" (which was soup and rolls) before all going out to trick-or-treat. Thanks Lindsay and John! It was so fun and we loved getting together with so many friends.
I don't think a single picture of ALL of the kids was taken, but this was as close as I got. It was so fun to see their excitement! (Well, at least the excitement of the parents...)
So that was it! Josh very enthusiastically ran from door to door yelling "Trick or Treat!", "CANDY!!" and "Happy Hoween!!!!" He had a few weeks of practice, so has still been saying "Happy Halloween" to people we pass. It was a good month and we're looking forward to Thanksgiving.

Making pumpkin soup has become a Halloween tradition and since we didn't throw a party this year, we decided to have the Tates over to celebrate with us. We had it on the Sunday before and really enjoyed the roll creations they came up with:

Chillin' at Home

Josh is a TERRIFIC big brother! He loves to get down on the floor and play with Sels. He also drops whatever he's doing and gets toys for her if I ask him to.

This was Kelsey a 2 weeks ago. Now, she uses that boppy to help her sit. She gets better every day!
This tree was just down the street from us. We had a very beautiful fall!

She is getting harder to feed because she is just everywhere, trying to turn and move around. It's been fun.
Handsome kiddo
Another cute thing: we joined the YMCA a few weeks ago (that's not the cute part...) because as it turns out--I HATE to run. So I can go and bike and swim and I've loved it. The best part: because we got the family plan, we have an hour and a half of free babysitting there and I've just loved all of the people who watch our babies. Whenever we tell Josh that we're going (we go 4-6 times a week) he goes "YESSSS!!!!" and starts getting read to go. Everyone knows them by name now and it's been just great for us! (Plus when it gets colder, he'll get some good running around time because there is an indoor playground!!)
Boston Trip
On Friday, Oct 21, Steve sent me on a plane (all by myself!!!) to go visit Camille, Jason and Lincoln (plus baby #2) in Boston. He decreed that I needed a weekend to myself without having to worry about our kids. It was so wonderful of him and I had a terrific time!
Camille picked me up from the airport and we talked for a short time before heading to bed. She was such a wonderful host even though she wasn't feeling all that great with her pregnancy.
On Saturday, we went all over Boston using the trains. Lincoln was such a great sport and charmed everyone!
When Steve and I were in Boston in January, we didn't get to see the library. It's cool!
One of the most entertaining things I saw was this land and water tour called Duck Tours. They were EVERYWHERE! It goes around Boston using the roads and then can drive straight into the water for a tour of the water.
We went down and watched some boat races on the Charles River.
They kept announcing: "Blue Line to Wonderland" and I laughed every time.
I experienced my first true "Girls' night" where we watched a chick flick (Prom) and painted our toes and fingers. Our fingers were candy corn and I have pumpkins on my toes.
It was so nice to get away for a weekend and see Camille--I think that was the longest I had ever gone without seeing her and we had a really good time! I was gone long enough to miss my kids (teehee) and I loved playing with them when I got back. Thank you Steve!
